Letting the Light Back in

Burnout and the Light Within

When I was deciding on a launch date for Well-being by Tracey, December 21st—the Winter Solstice—immediately felt significant. It wasn’t just another date on the calendar; it carried a deeper meaning tied to my personal journey through burnout.

You’ll eventually learn more about my story, but one pivotal moment stands out. When I was planning my exit from my job—a decision that felt like the best and worst decision at the time—I unknowingly chose June 21st to give notice. It wasn’t intentional; it just happened to fit my timeline. But as the day drew closer, and I started thinking to myself maybe I can stay a little while longer… but then I realized something: June 21st was the Summer Solstice.

For weeks, I had been carefully preparing my exit, lining up meetings and programming around my departure. The closer I got to that day, the more real it became. I remember sitting with the realization that it was the Summer Solstice and it was as though nature itself was holding me accountable, pushing me toward a new chapter.

The Seasons of Life

I’m a big believer in the healing power of nature and the wisdom in honoring its cycles. The transitions between seasons are a reminder that change, no matter how difficult, is perfectly timed. I often attend ceremonies at local studios where we reflect on these shifts, guided by teachings rooted in Native American traditions.

The Summer Solstice ushers in a period of growth. It’s a time when nature is abundant: flowers bloom, fruits and vegetables ripen, and the earth feels vibrant. While it feels like the Summer Solstice celebrates life, it also marks the time that the light begins to fade making the slow transition to the quieter, darker months.

Looking back, giving notice on the Summer Solstice marked the beginning of my own season of growth. Like the earth after the longest day, I found myself retreating into a quieter phase, shedding what no longer served me and creating space to grow. Since July 2023, I’ve been in a period of healing, reflection, and transformation which I call my self-care sabbatical.

Stepping Back Into the Light

And now, we’re here: December 21st, the Winter Solstice. This day marks the return of the light. From here, each day grows a little longer, bringing with it the promise of renewal and warmth. That’s exactly what this moment feels like for me. The launch of Well-being by Tracey is my reintroduction to the world—a step out of the quiet and into the light, ready to share my journey and connect with you.

An Invitation to You

I’m so grateful you’re here, and I hope this space brings you connection, compassion, and a sense of hope. As we honor this Winter Solstice, I invite you to reflect on how you can bring more light into your own life.

Wishing you a blessed Winter Solstice and a season filled with rest and renewal,

Tracey
